ABOUT US / Malcolm Fraser MCSP, PT

Malcolm Fraser MCSP, PT is an accomplished therapist with extraordinary skills in manual therapy. He studied physical therapy in Bath, UK, and became interested in the issues of health and wellbeing through martial arts training. He later trained in T’ai Chi and Chi Kung. Malcolm got involved in the issues of workplace health, stress and life purpose through working with a business training company in London. After 5 years in Australia, he came to Chicago where he continues classes in advanced Physical Therapy.

“IMT (Integrative Manual Therapy) is important to me because how consciousness works with the brain and the body is at the heart of our work. Biology and biochemistry are validating how healing occurs. The palpation skills of IMT brings facilitating that to a much higher level, while respecting the body’s wisdom in how it produces the symptoms, and how it wants to heal them. The same applies with Focusing, a technique to release tension, when there are stress issues involved.”

Physical Therapy, specializing in:

  1. CranioSacral Therapy and Integrative Manual Therapy to release restriction in connective tissue, so the physiology can work to heal the body
  2. Total Motion Release exercises to empower the client in their own treatment and specifically to release restriction in connective tissue throughout the body, done so as to minimize the discomfort of therapy
  3. SoleSupports custom orthotics to improve the joint mechanics of the feet, ankles, legs and spine, and to improve posture and patterns of walking

What are some benefits/results people see:

  1. Decreased pain, stiffness, muscle tightness and tension, headaches and other physical symptoms.
  2. Improved posture, movement, coordination, improved brain function and mood.
  3. Improved connection to your own healing blueprint and purpose in life.

Describe a typical session and how someone might prepare for it:

The initial evaluation is fairly typical for physical therapy – hearing the person’s history, including minor injuries, evaluating range and quality of movement and strength, diagnostic special testing, posture and gait evaluation. I discuss the treatment options with the client. For ongoing treatment sessions, especially manual therapy – just wear comfortable clothes, relax and enjoy!

What makes you different/good at what you do:

Years of continuing education and personal growth in meditation, Ch’i Kung and manual therapy: even more than working with subtle energies, is the ability to stay present, in an unconditioned awareness, and to palpate and listen to how the client’s body wants to heal.
