Still the most common type of headache is a tension or muscle contraction headache, which most people experience at least once a year. Some clients may experience tension type headache every day. About 18% of the population suffers from migraine headache, a type of neurovascular headache in which pain can be severe and disabling. Migraine is a throbbing or pulsating headache, usually felt on one side of the head. It may be accompanied by nausea and sensitivity to light or noise and may last from 24 to 72 hours, often causing major disruption in a client’s career and family life. All types of headache are caused by a complex combination of impaired structural alignment, biology, hormones, diet, lifestyle, sleep, and stress. |
